Dr. Darcova Matrice is an Original Georgia Peach. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and after the first year of school at Haughabrooks Academy, matriculated through the Atlanta Public School System. She graduated from John Wesley Dobbs Elementary School and was the Salutatorian of Fulton High School’s Class of 1992. Her pursuit of knowledge continued as she completed the rigorous Bachelor of Science program in Early Childhood Education at Morris Brown College, the Master of Education program in Early Childhood Education at Oglethorpe Unversity and Education Specialist and Doctor of Education programs in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on Gifted and Talented Education at Argosy University in Sarasota, Florida.
Since 1996, her educational experience on the collegiate, middle and elementary levels in private, charter and public schools throughout Florida, Georgia, Nevada and Europe in capacities of principal, assistant principal, professor, mentor, artist, support staff and teacher- departmentalized and self- contained… make her that Extra Educator. Dr. Darcova Matrice has a teaching style that is over the top, doing the most and waaaay too much. Dr. Darcova Matrice publishes an Online Magazine, has authored numerous collections of poetry and contributes to the world of literature by offering works that empower women to STRUT: walk in their purpose (on purpose) with confidence, competence and conviction.
As an African American Artist, it is her purpose to PAINT what she sees, what she knows and who she is. Without inhibitions, Dr. Darcova Matrice exhibits all of her diversity…. Diverse Complexions, Distinct Features, Divine Artistry (lashes, lips, earrings), Flyyyy Hair and Impeccable Style. She asserts that her role is to leave a legacy of PAINTings that show the Evolution of the African American Woman through the eyes of an African American Woman.
As the Visionary of Brains and Beauty- a mentoring group exclusively for Girls- Dr. Darcova Matrice hosts camps, afterschool programs, Saturday workshops and virtual sessions that provide the platform for our Girls to Be Pretty, Be Smart and Flyyyy.
Dr. Darcova Matrice is an Educator who has been blessed with many gifts and talents. She is grateful for every opportunity to wake up and let her little light shine.
